MMA legend Tony Ferguson has sent a defiant message to those suggesting he should retire following his seventh consecutive loss.

The former interim lightweight champion was wobbled, dropped, and outpointed by rising star Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

‘El Cucuy' is now riding a seven-fight losing streak and hasn’t tasted victory inside the Octagon since stopping Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in June 2019.

Post-fight, UFC CEO Dana White led calls for Ferguson to retire, but on Tuesday the Mexican-American took to social media to reveal he intends to fight on.

“Love My Fans & Supporters, You All Are F*****’ Fire," he wrote on .

“Met Lots Of You Saturday/ This Weekend / This Week. Keep The Faith MF’s.

The 39-year-old famously won 12 successive fights – the longest purple patch in UFC lightweight history – before his career took a nosedive after facing Justin Gaethje in May 2020.

A fifth-round TKO defeat ended Ferguson’s seven-year unbeaten run, and he has since fallen short against Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, Nate Diaz, and Bobby Green.

Pimblett represented a massive step down in competition, but he still didn’t win a round against a man who was pushed to the brink of defeat by Jared Gordon last December.

Ferguson teamed up with former Navy SEAL and ultramarathon runner, David Goggins, in an attempt to resurrect his career at UFC 296.

He cemented his bond with the social media personality, who has over 10 million followers on Instagram, by becoming the first person to complete his "Hell Week" without quitting.

Goggins was in the corner on fight night, but even he couldn’t help Ferguson break his worrying slump that has led to widespread retirement calls.

Ferguson will fight on, but it remains to be seen if he will be allowed to do so in the UFC, which has been his home since he won The Ultimate Fighter in 2011.
