UFC 301 bout is called off as fighter William Gomis looks seriously unwell during weigh-in

French fighter William Gomis caused concern ahead of UFC 301, leading to his fight being canceled.
The 13-2 featherweight star looked extremely unwell as he arrived to make weight for his fight with Jean Silva in Rio De Janeiro on Saturday night.
Gomis, who was unusually fully clothed, looked like he was doing his best zombie impression as he stumbled towards the scale at the UFC 301 weigh-ins on Friday.
‘Jaguar’ almost fell backwards when he stepped onto the scale, but he managed to remain upright and allow the powers at be to record his official weight.
Daniel Cormier was commentating on the weigh-in and he was almost sure Gomis was overweight due to the fact hadn’t stripped down to boxers and was looking worse for wear.
Incredibly, it was announced that Gomis had weighed in at 143lbs, which is 3lbs lighter than what he needed to be to make his fight with Silva official.
An already worrying scene got worse when Gomis seemed incapable of holding himself up and leaned on the scale before being attended to by one of the UFC security guards.
The 26-year-old, who is riding an 11-fight win streak, struggled to walk offstage and needed the help of another security guard to do so.
As a result, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani took to X to write: "The fight has been canceled, per Gomis' team".
Concerned fans called for Gomis’ UFC 301 scrap to be called off after footage of the worrying incident went viral on social media.
One person tweeted: “How is this allowed. The walkup to the scale was a zombie movie.”
Another said: “Yikes they are going to let him fight looking like that?”
A third person added: “Please cancel the fight.”
Someone else commented: “This is so bad. Cancel the fight.”
MMA journalist , who was at the weigh-in, claims that Gomis vomited moments before weighing in and was being closely watched by doctors immediately backstage.
He tweeted: “William Gomis did not look good on the scale but still made weight (143 pounds with clothes on) for a featherweight bout.
“Apparently he threw up moments before weighing in. Commission doctors were following him closely. Jean Silva, his opponent, made weight at 146 pounds.”
It has since been confirmed that Gomis won't be allowed to fight at UFC 301.
