Conor McGregor insists he wasn't in control of the decision to postpone the UFC 303 press conference hours before it was scheduled.

Fans feared the worst after it was revealed that he would not be taking part in a press conference scheduled for his upcoming comeback fight.

McGregor is set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

With the days counting down until the much-anticipated fight, event officials scheduled a press conference at 5pm at Dublin's 3Arena but on Monday morning, the UFC confirmed that the presser was postponed.

Now after hours of speculation that McGregor could pull out of the bout, he has since revealed that forces out of his control saw the press conference suspended.

He wrote on social media: "In consultation with the UFC, today's press conference was cancelled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control.

"I apologize to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support.

"I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon."

Last week, videos circulated of McGregor partying at the Black Forge Inn into the early hours.

It had led to fans questioning whether Notorious was taking his comeback fight seriously, having not entered the Octagon since July 2021.

On that occasion, McGregor lost his sixth professional MMA fight after suffering a gruesome leg break against Dustin Poirier.

The 35-year-old is set to headline UFC 303 for his grand return to the sport while the sporting body's president Dana White dismissed the videos of him partying on social media.

“I don’t know what’s real on the internet and what’s not real on the internet," he said.

"I don’t know timing-wise; in one of them he’s got a beard, in one of them he doesn’t have a beard.

"I have no idea, I don’t know if any of that is real or true or whatever.

“But Conor is not a dumb guy and this is obviously a big fight for him.

"He’s calling it the best comeback in the history of sports and all of that stuff. So we’ll see what happens.”
