Michael Chandler sends surprise message of support message to Conor McGregor after injury spoils UFC 303 fight

Michael Chandler is keeping it classy after missing out on the biggest fight of his life.
The former three-time Bellator champion was supposed to take on MMA superstar Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 303 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 29.
However, it was recently revealed that their fight has been postponed.
On Thursday evening, after a week of intense speculation, Dana White announced that McGregor is injured and unable to compete later this month.
‘Iron Mike’ responded to the unfortunate news by sending a surprisingly nice message to his rival, who he has been exchanging verbal blows with since their match-up was made official over a year ago.
“No hard feelings,” Chandler at McGregor.
“Heal up. My heart is full. See you soon.”
Chandler’s wholesome post was in response to McGregor sharing an official statement after being forced to withdraw from a fight for the first time in his career.
Taking to Instagram, he said: "Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout.
"I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me.
"The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.
"My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back!"
McGregor hasn't fought since breaking his leg in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021, but fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for his comeback bout.
A new date for McGregor's fight with Chandler isn't confirmed, but MMA journalist Ariel Helwani says the Irishman is likely to fight Chandler in the next few months.
He tweeted: "The new date for McGregor x Chandler. August or September has been discussed, and that would likely mean creating a new PPV date those months (8/31 and 9/28) have been discussed.
"That part - which is massive in all this - hasn’t been finalized."
It seems certain that McGregor and Chandler will go back to insulting each other as soon as the UFC announces their new fight date.
