‘It’s absolutely real’ – Dana White responds to conspiracy theories about Conor McGregor and UFC 303

Dana White insists that Conor McGregor’s mysterious injury is real.
‘Notorious’ recently withdrew from his comeback fight with Michael Chandler, which was supposed to take place at UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29.
White and McGregor have since claimed that he is injured, but their failure to specify exactly what ailment he is dealing with has led to some people coming up with conspiracy theories.
During a recent , White was asked to respond to several potential reasons for McGregor’s withdrawal from his first fight in three years.
He said: “Put on your tinfoil hat, Dana, because you’ve heard all the conspiracy theories about Conor. ‘He’s not really hurt’. 'He really just wants to negotiate'. 'He really doesn’t want to do all the press’.
“He’s really hurt, right?”
The UFC boss quickly and emphatically responded to the question.
“I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again. Conor McGregor has never done that,” White replied.
"Conor McGregor never leads up to a fight and tries to renegotiate a contract or get more money.
"He’s never done anything even remotely close to that. He is as solid as solid can be at being a business partner.
“Conor McGregor is hurt right now. It’s absolutely real.
“No, he’s never done anything like that.”
MMA reporter Ariel Helwani believes McGregor will be ready to return in August and could do so in September or October if the UFC can open up a date for him.
White doesn’t know when his biggest star will be back but says Chandler wants to sit on the sidelines and wait for his ‘Red Panty Night’ with the Irishman.
He added: “I think poor Chandler wants to wait for Conor McGregor.”
“Whatever he wants to do. If he wants to get a fight this summer, we’ll do whatever he wants. He’s one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever worked with, he’s a good human being and I like him a lot.
“Whatever he wants to do, we’ll figure it out for him.”
