UFC news: Travis Browne reveals how Ronda Rousey's Olympic medal helped capture burglars

UFC icon Ronda Rousey recently revealed how her house had been burgled.

She described, on the Kelly and Ryan show, how her soon-to-be husband, and current UFC fighter Travis Browne, tracked down the invaders and managed to get them arrested.

Browne, who will face Oleksiy Oliynyk at UFC 213 on July 8, was interviewed for the first time since the story came out and gave a full account of what actually happened.

“We showed up at our Venice place before we were going to New Zealand,”

“We just kind of noticed that some things were out of place or missing. So we looked back on security cameras [dotted around their home], we replayed the last four days [and] saw who it was.

“We took a picture, I had it on my phone [and] I noticed they all had skateboards.

“There’s a famous skatepark next to us, so I just walked down and saw the two guys and the chick, walked over to the cops and said ‘there they are’.

“They [the burglars] tried to get away but they were arrested a couple hours later."

Many stories have stated that Rousey lost her Beijing Olympic bronze medal in the invasion. But, as it turns out, it was actually instrumental in confirming the identity of at least one of the burglars.

“No, she still has her medal,” Browne confirmed.

“It’s funny, that was actually one of things that helped put the nail in the coffin actually because they picked up the medal, which was in a hard surfaced case, and they actually touched the metal and it has their fingerprints all over it.”

Browne also revealed that the invaders had lodgers of some sort: “I don’t know if they slept in our bed but they slept in the guest bedroom. It’s weird, you know what I mean? It is what it is though.

“We’ve beefed up the security now.”
