UFC 196 press conference: McGregor says he will ‘dust’ Dos Anjos inside one minute

UFC 197 press conference:

Conor McGregor has already predicted how his UFC lightweight title fight with champion Rafael dos Anjos will go.

The Dubliner took just 13 seconds to beat Jose Aldo for the featherweight belt at UFC 194 in December and is now gunning for the belt that would see him become the first man in the promotion's history to hold two titles in two different divisions at the same time when he fights Dos Anjos on 5 March at UFC 196.

“I believe I will dust Rafael inside one minute,” he said.

“He is a slower, sloppier version of [Jose] Aldo. He's like a bum version of Aldo.

“I believe in absolutely everything, I believe that inside one minute I will dust him. I will exit the contest fresh, I will cash the check, I will sign the next contract for UFC 200 - the brand new MGM [arena] - and we'll go again."

Speaking about possibly creating UFC history, McGregor explained it has been a goal of his to do so.

“I came into this promotion as a two-weight fighter and had always wanted to replicate that and to create history and continue to create history.”

But Brazilian fighter Dos Anjos, who has seen off the likes of Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone in his last three fights, said it was a bad idea for McGregor to move up.

“I'm going to have the chance to finish this fight in the first round, but I won't,” he explained.

“I'm going to punish him all the way to the third and fourth and going to make him bleed. I'm going to make him pay for everything he says.”

The other main event at the MGM in March will see Holly Holm defend the bantamweight title she took from Ronda Rousey against Miesha Tate.
