Conor McGregor to be sued by lightweight contender Michael Chiesa after bus attack ahead of UFC 229
- The Irishman threw a mechanical dolly at the bus containing several fighters at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn
- UFC 229 opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov was the intended target, but Chiesa suffered lacerations from the glass
- Although his fight was rescheduled a few months later, he lost it and is now no longer considered to be in title contention

Conor McGregor has had a lawsuit filed against him for his role in the attack on a bus in New York in April.
UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa is the first of what could be many aggrieved fighters looking for remuneration from the 'Notorious' after he threw a mechanical dolly through a window of a bus in the Barclays Centre.
After agreeing a plea deal at the Supreme Court in Brooklyn, the Irish superstar was found guilty of disorderly conduct but received no criminal record and all felony charges were dropped.
Although he will have to undertake anger management classes and five days of community service, McGregor is set to return to the octagon at UFC 229 against the man whom the attack was meant for; fierce rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, the 30-year-old could now face serious financial repercussions from one fighter who failed to escape unscathed from the attack.
Michael Chiesa was scheduled to fight Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis at UFC 223, but had to be pulled from the card because of cuts lacerations by the broken glass from McGregor's attack.
According to TMZ, 'Maverick' is now suing McGregor and has claimed that the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion caused him 'severe emotional distress, mental trauma and/or bodily harm.'
Although his fight was rescheduled in June, Chiesa lost the bout and blames McGregor for costing him a shot at the title.
Speaking to MMA Fighting back in June, Chiesa said: "I don't really got a lot to say to the guy (McGregor). I lost a title shot. You know what I mean?

"I have proof. I was the highest ranked guy on the card, I would have stepped in to fight Khabib at the drop of a dime. I've always loved a fight with Khabib.
"Bless his heart, he's a cool ass guy. But this is a sport, and I’ve always liked the way I matched up against him, and I got f**ked out of that opportunity."
