McGregor v Diaz UFC 196: Eight amazing pictures as champion is defeated

UFC 196 saw Nate Diaz hand Irish star Conor McGregor his first defeat since 2010 in their welterweight clash in Las Vegas.

The American forced featherweight champion McGregor to submit in the second round with a rear-naked choke hold, which shocked the attending crowd.

Diaz was a late replacement for Rafael dos Anjos and was peppered with punches in the opening round but, despite a cut by his eye, the Californian held out and eventually took down The Notorious in the second - which you can see the video of here.

McGregor, who still holds the featherweight belt, must now take stock after a humbling defeat which followed plenty of talk prior to the bout.
