Daniel Cormier has said he would have no hesitation in facing heavyweight destroyer Francis Ngannou.

The 'Predator' has been on a destructive streak in recent months, knocking out Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, and Junior dos Santos in a combined 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

“I think he’s a great guy,” . “I like Francis, he’s very respectful. But I think everybody now has to take a step back because nothing has changed.

"This is the same thing that we saw prior to his title fight. Just remember that. You guys have to slow down. You get excited and you fall in love with these knockouts but nothing has changed. He did that to Overeem to earn a title fight.

"He knocked out all those guys prior. Nothing has changed. So as much as I respect him, it’s not a fight that I would have much hesitation in taking.

Askren update

UFC president Dana White has revealed that Ben Askren is well following his record-breaking defeat to Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal knocked out Askren with a flying knee in just five seconds – the all-time record for quickest knockout in UFC history.

Askren was taken to hospital following the bout after being left unconscious, but White said the fighter was 'good enough'.

“He’s good,” White said about Askren. “All of his stuff came back negative so he’s OK. I’m sure he’s not OK [with the loss] but he’s [good enough].”

Askren was even able to joke about his first loss on Twitter.

“Well that sucked,” he wrote.

Rumble ahead

Anthony Johnson has dropped a major hint that he could be prepared to return to the Octagon.

Johnson took on Australian submission superstar Craig Jones in the main event of Submission Underground 9 in Portland, Ore, but was beaten via a heel hook in 47 seconds.

'Rumble' has not fought since 2017 when he was submitted by Cormier at UFC 210.

When asked if a return to MMA was a possibility, he replied: “If the price is right, the price is right."

If ever he did return, Johnson would likely be heavyweight, given he weighed in at 278.4 pounds on Sunday.
