UFC legend Cain Velasquez retires from MMA and signs multi-year contract with WWE

Following a press conference yesterday, we now know two crossover stars will be competing in the WWE on October 31 at Crown Jewel.

Tyson Fury makes the move from boxing to face Braun Strowman in a battle of the big men, but Fury is very much expected to fight Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title in February.

This fight will serve as a promotional tool for that event and Fury's profile in America.

Cain Velasquez will also compete at the same event in Saudi Arabia against old UFC foe, Brock Lesnar.

The difference between Velasquez and Fury is that the former UFC heavyweight champion - who actually beat Lesnar in 2010 for that belt - will be sticking around according to reports.

Sources told “the former two-time UFC heavyweight champion, has signed a lucrative, multiyear deal with WWE and has also notified the UFC of his retirement”.

The 37-year-old went 14-3 in his MMA career but lost in his final fight last February to Francis Ngannou via first-round KO.
