War of words
The back and forth dispute between Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya continues for another week.
Adesanya, the undisputed middleweight champion, and Jones, the light heavyweight holder, have been going at each other on social media for a number of weeks.
In his latest jibe, 'The Last Stylebender' has gone down the personal route with a tweet directed at Jones which you can see below...
Jones responded on Twitter, writing: "What happened to originality?" He also called Adesanya an 'annoying kid' in another post, sparked by a fan replying to his original tweet with the comment, 'kids now days'.
McGregor is back
Conor McGregor has confirmed he will make his long-awaited return to UFC on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
McGregor has had a controversial 2019, not fighting since his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov last year, and has also hinted at retirement for the second time.
Asked who he will fight next, the Irishman gave a typical response.
“Ask the UFC, because I do not give a f***," said McGregor.
Heart not in it
Jon Jones has said he is so bored with UFC he might take two years off and just train.
In his last fight, the light heavyweight champion earned a split-decision win over Brazilian Thiago Santos.
It was Jones‘ 16th consecutive win since his controversial 2009 disqualification in a bout against Matt Hamill and his 13th in a world title fight, a record he shares with Georges St-Pierre.
There has been talk of a move to heavyweight and a potential fight with Dominick Reyes, one he feels he has nothing to gain from.
“Sometimes I think about sitting out and just training for the next two years, then coming back and challenging the light heavyweight who’s been the most dominant,” Jones wrote on .
“Really not sure when I’ll be fighting next, feel like I have nothing to gain by beating Dominic.
"I’ve actually felt that way about my last two opponents. I’m having a hard time even talking s*** to this last dude. They all say the same lame s***. I want a fight to be excited about.”
