MMA news: Wanderlei Silva’s son wins Muay Thai debut with 30 second KO, Jorge Masvidal talks retirement, Cormier and Bisping reveal UFC generosity

marvelbet369.com brings you the latest news from the world of mixed martial arts...

Calling it a day

Jorge Masvidal has revealed he will retire in about three years - after 'taking someone's head off' to claim a belt.

It has been quite the year for 'Gamebred', who stopped both Darren Till and Ben Askren - the latter in a record five seconds - before winning the BMF (baddest motherf***er) belt against Nate Diaz.

But he wants to get his hands on the UFC welterweight belt before hanging up his gloves.

“Before I close the next chapter and go on to whatever the f*** in my life, I’m gonna get that belt and whoever has it, I’m gonna take their head off,” Masvidal told .

“Then I’m gonna defend that belt and I’m gonna kick whoever they put in front of me’s ass. I’m gonna separate myself from the pack by eliminating people by having somebody stop me from doing further damage.

“I got about three years left, then I’ll hang up the gloves comfortably.

“Not because I need to, but because I want to. I’ll have enough money and everything I wanted to accomplish in these three years. It’s more of a matter of who’s going to bring me the most money in this next fight.”

Like father, like son

Wanderlei Silva was one of the most feared fighters of his generation - he was known as 'The Axe Murderer' after all.

So it is no surprise to see his son following in the Brazilian's footsteps and demonstrating some of the brutality that made his father famous.

Thor Silva made his amateur Muay Thai debut last weekend in Santa Felicidade, Parana, Brazil, winning by way of a stunning first-round knockout in just 30 seconds!

His proud father posted a video of the fight on Instagram, and you can watch it below...

The elder Silva wrote on Instagram: "When I fought for the first time in my life, I won by KO in 30 second fight, just like my son did today! Congratulations son @thorsiilva showed a unique professionalism in preparing for this fight! I want to thank the support of all my dear friends, and I ask you to follow the now "fighter" @thorsiilva!"

Supportive

Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping have both spoken out on the UFC's financial generosity and how the company have helped them in the past.

In recent years the MMA giants have come under-fire over a perceived lack of money fighters are paid, and also how restrictive kit provider Reebok are.

However, former champions Cormier and Bisping have both told a different story - highlighting when they were helped out by the promotion.

“Getting ready for Xmas holidays reminds me of 2012 and 15 days before Xmas the @ufc sends me a 10k holiday bonus check,” Cormier wrote on Twitter. “No reason for it but I remember thinking wow this was my fight purse before. We really do work for a beautiful company. Thank you guys. DC”

Bisping replied in a quote tweet: “I remember Dana did the same thing to me. Sent me a check in 2006 when I hadn’t fought for a while due to visa issues and he thought I’d be struggling financially: he was correct and it was very, very much appreciated.”
