Dana White reveals Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch will happen if they win next fights against ‘Cowboy’ and Ferguson

Dana White has confirmed both Conor McGregor and bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov could fight in 2020.
The UFC president is in Las Vegas ahead of UFC 245, a card which will pit three world champions against the best in their respective divisions.
And White told BT Sport he will be returning to Sin City on January 18 for the comeback of the ‘Notorious’ as he returns to welterweight to fight Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.
Although there were rumours the fight was a done deal, this is the first time the UFC have officially confirmed it.
Similarly, it was claimed Khabib would make the third defence of his lightweight belt in April against none other than Tony Ferguson. Although the fight has been made four times without ever going ahead, White revealed fifth time would have to be the charm in this case.
On Conor vs Cowboy
“It’s done, that deal is done. That’s happening January 18, here in Las Vegas."
On Khabib vs Ferguson
“Fight’s done; that fight’s done, it’s happening.
"And, you know, if Conor can get through Cowboy and if Khabib can get through Tony, then we would be looking at a rematch with Conor and Khabib down the line here pretty soon.”
The news is likely to irk plenty of MMA fans who would instead rather see Justin Gaethje get his shot at UFC gold after recording three first round knockouts against ranked opponents.
With heavy hands and a background in wrestling to potentially rival Khabib, many believe ‘The Highlight’ has the tools to end his phenomenal unbeaten streak.
Initially, fans viewed McGregor’s superior striking skills as the antidote to the ferocious ground game deployed by Numagomedov.
But the 28-0 superstar convincingly battered the Irishman at UFC 229 with a fourth round submission and seemingly ended their long-running feud.
