Donald Cerrone has been handed a six-month medical suspension from UFC following his brutal loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 246.

'Cowboy' was beaten in 40 seconds of McGregor's comeback fight after a series of shoulder strikes, a high kick and crushing knee led to his quick demise.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission's medical team assessed Cerrone after the bout and diagnosed a broken nose and 'mild' orbital fracture in his face.

Because of that, the 36-year-old faces a medical suspension.

However, he may be cleared earlier than July by a maxillofacial surgeon, though is sidelined at minimum until February 18 with no contact until February 9.
Even for someone as active as Cerrone, it seems highly unlikely we would see him anywhere close to February. A late spring/summer return is likely.

Elsewhere on the UFC 246 card, flyweight Maycee Barber suffered a torn ACL during her loss to Roxanne Modafferi, according her father. Incredibly, Barber managed to go the distance even after a doctor checked her at the end of round two and said she had a partial ACL tear.
NSAC have said she needs an MRI to avoid a six-month term, but that's elementary at this point and it's unlikely she'll return in 2020.

As for McGregor, he didn't even take a punch during his fight with Cerrone and came out the bout as pristine as he went in.

Speculation continues to rage as to whom the Irishman will fight next and it's believed he's looking for a relatively quick turnaround.

Jorge Masvidal appears to be a logical pick, but UFC president Dana White says 'Gamebred' will be getting a title shot against Kamaru Usman.
Justin Gaethje is on McGregor's 'list', but the Nate Diaz trilogy appears to be the bout on most people's lips.
