UFC 252: Jon Jones says he now wants heavyweight title after Stipe Miocic’s victory over Daniel Cormier – Dana White says Francis Ngannou is next

At UFC 252, Stipe Miocic prevented Daniel Cormier from getting the fairytale retirement he had hoped for as he retained the heavyweight title via unanimous decision.

The course of the fight changed with an eye injury to DC in the second round but the clean sweep from the judges seemed a fair outcome for Miocic.

A man that was live-tweeting during the fight - and even proclaiming his support for former bitter rival Cormier - was Jon Jones.

The current light-heavyweight champion bested Cormier twice during his career - although one was overturned - and only he and Miocic ever defeated DC.

The idea of Bones moving up to heavyweight has long intrigued and although UFC president Dana White said Francis Ngannou is definitely next in line for the title, he did say Jones making the move is 'very interesting'.

In a series of tweets, Jones essentially declared the move.

";Heavyweight world championships I will be seeing you real soon. Victorious," Jones tweeted. "This is exciting for me."

Jones then gave some analysis of what he saw and how he would win.

"For some reason these heavyweights don’t seem so big to me tonight.

"Avoid Stipe’s right hand, I’m too fast, I’ll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy. Soon and very soon I’ll be considered the baddest man on this planet."

Bones is already considered the greatest 205-pounder to ever set foot in the octagon and he's certainly in the conversation as the greatest fighter ever period.

Should he move to heavyweight and reign over that division too, that would certainly help his legacy. Although Cormier was the first and thus far only man to reign atop of both the divisions at the same time.

Cormier stated after his loss to Miocic that he would only be interested in fighting for titles at this point in his career and as he knows he'll be moved away from Miocic following three straight contests, he doesn't see him reneging on his decision to retire.

If Jones were to beat Miocic - or Ngannou if he defeats him first - that would certainly represent an interesting decision for DC.
Could a lucrative trilogy fight with Jon Jones for the heavyweight title be the next and final time we'd see DC in the octagon?
