Nate Diaz appeared irked by Khabib's non-committal response to a possible UFC return.

It's still unclear whether the lightweight champion, after a meeting with UFC president Dana White, will in fact reverse his decision to retire from MMA.

The Eagle instead wants to see if any of the four lightweights in action at UFC 257 - including Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier - impress him enough to make him want to return.

White believes Charles Oliveira is also in the running after looking impressive against Tony Ferguson.

If they don't make an impression on him, then he'll vacate the belt and stay in retirement and not attempt to make his record 30-0.

“You can say whatever you want, but Conor McGregor vs Khabib is a massive fight," White said when asked if it is more likely the Irishman is given the rematch he wants.

“And if Conor wins in spectacular fashion, it would be harder to say he doesn’t deserve the shot," he added.

But Diaz didn't sugarcoat his thoughts, tweeting: “Kabib(sic) is a p**** for real."

White has already told reporters on Fight Island he is working on a match-up for Diaz, which the boss says would be 'a really great fight for him,' but he refused to reveal the name for Diaz's lightweight return.

Diaz is highly respected in mixed martial arts and Calvin Kattar was detailing to talkSPORT just last week about how crazy their training regimens are.

"I was 3-0 at the time going out there," he said. "I was leading into that EliteXC fight, which was probably a mistake in hindsight. It was the hardest week of training and that's usually when people dial back.

"I got like three bloody noses a day, I was a kid from Boston getting to train with the guys from Cali, but it was all love, they respected the hard work and it blew my mind.

"I was training from morning to night, I was sleeping on Cesar Gracie's living room floor. When they told me to get up and got to work, I went and trained and didn't get back until like 3am.

"I remember being at Nate's Gym at like 12:31am and he's throwing on his jeans, he'd just finished training, which was late anyway. Cesar said he had me coming in. 'Do you want to give this kid some work?' And he's like 's***, alright!' [laughs].

"He just takes off his jeans throws his s*** back on and he's just a G, man. Wanting to work. That's what it was like out there, these guys just want to work 24/7," Kattar added.
"I was around both Nick and Nate, it was really cool. I remember we walked into a gym in Oakland and Andre Ward was hitting the bag! Virgil Hunter was there like 'pick it up, pick it up!' and Ward was like 'I can't knock it out, man!' and he's just ripping this bag. I was like holy s*** [laughs]. This is wild."
