Daniel Cormier winces at the sound of Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza’s arm SNAPPING at UFC 262 after incredible first round finish by Andre Muniz as Chris Weidman offers support

Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza suffered what appeared to be a suspected broken arm against Andre Muniz at UFC 262 which left Daniel Cormier wincing in discomfort.

 The Brazilian had never lost a fight by submission in his professional MMA career, yet the 41-year-old was rendered helpless when his arm snapped in the first round at Texas.

Muniz bragged in the build-up that he was the superior grappler of the two, something which surprised many given Jacare’s pedigree in both Strikeforce and the UFC.

Yet the 41-year-old found himself instantly on the back foot after an early takedown in the first round, before Muniz then took his back.

After leaping onto the veteran’s back, Muniz then cleverly managed to lock in Jacare’s right arm and the snap was audible on commentary as it broke – ending the fight instantly.

Former two-weight world champion Cormier took his headset off and looked away from his monitor so as to miss replays of the sickening injury.

This is not the first time Souza has suffered a broken arm during competition. At the 2004 Jiu Jitsu World Championships, Souza snapped his right arm against Roger Gracie.

With a minute to go, Souza refused to tap or submit, instead tucking his arm into his gi and then holding on to win.

There was to be no such miracle this time around however, with Muniz bringing his entire body weight down onto the arm and rendering Souza incapacitated.
