French Grand Prix odds, preview and free bets: Max Verstappen favourite but Lewis Hamilton into 17/2 to win in France

The F1 season is well into the second half of the campaign and now it's time for France to hold the weekend events following a spectacular Austrian GP.
Last year Max Verstappen won the French Grand Prix, the first time Red Bull had won it but could it be another Ferrari win this weekend?

Ferrari remain dominant here with 17 wins but they've not won it since 2008 courtesy of the great Felipe Massa.
The F1 calendar didn't include the French GP between 2009 and 2017 though.
And when it finally returned on the Paul Ricard course, Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes were in the midst of their dominant force in 2018 and 2019.
But now Ferrari look just as threatening as they did toward the beginning of the season, with many upgrades and changes clearly making a big impact to the longevity and reliability of the Italian cars.
Charles Leclerc won the Austrian GP a couple of weeks ago and now there's a chance that Ferrari will make a bid to challenge the title in an unlikely uphill battle.
It would require the Monegasque driver to catch up the three wins and three podium point places he finds himself behind Verstappen.
Meanwhile Carlos Sainz Jr will also have to keep bettering Sergio Perez's haul of points as the two are equal on wins and podium finishes.
Mercedes do well in France too and with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finding themselves in the top six fairly consistently now, they could be in with a shout to get their first win.
Max Verstappen is once again the favourite for this weekend and is still in a commanding position for the 2022 title.
French Grand Prix odds
- Max Verstappen 11/10
- Charles Leclerc 11/8
- Lewis Hamilton 17/2
- Sergio Perez 14/1
- George Russell 16/1
- Carlos Sainz 20/1
Sainz Jr looks a great price this weekend as does his teammate Leclerc who won last time out and the two should be up there barring any DNF unfortune.
Hamilton is usually a much higher price and with his recent races showing vast improvements from Mercedes it might be this weekend where the Brit gets his first GP win of the 2022 campaign.
