Exclusive – Jordan: Hamilton could have been a contender!

Eddie Jordan believes Lewis Hamiton would be a World Championship contender had he not been involved in numerous incidents throughout the year.

The Brit has been criticised for his overly aggressive driving style this year and has been punished with drive-through penalties in several races this season.

 And Jordan claims Hamilton would be challenging Vettel if he’d concentrated more on the track.

“Hamilton has a bit to prove,” Jordan said. “He is outstandingly quick, probably as quick as Vettel, but he gets himself embroiled in little incidents that he shouldn’t do and he’s suffering as a result from it.

“It’s such a shame because he could have been huge opposition for Vettel this year, but McLaren haven’t been quite good enough. The Red Bull car has been too good.”
