Drake wins £1.2million despite only one of his ‘psychotic’ Super Bowl bets coming in as rapper makes huge profit – but boxing legend Floyd Mayweather misses out on latest payday

Rap sensation Drake defied the odds, literally, to win big at Super Bowl LVII as only one of his ‘psychotic’ bets came in.

And the Kansas City Chiefs will be delighted to have seemingly broken the so-called 'Drake Curse' which has claimed several high-profile victims - including Liverpool, Barcelona, Anthony Joshua and Conor McGregor.

The Canadian hit-maker - real name Aubrey Graham - placed seven huge bets on Sunday’s NFL showcase, and still came away with a massive profit despite only winning one of them, raking in £1.2million ($1.47m).

Drake wagered £801,000 ($965,000) on bets for the Super Bowl, as the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs at the State Farm Stadium - home of the Arizona Cardinals.

Admitting there was ‘no logic’ behind any of them - he had a 14 per cent chance of winning - ‘Champagne Papi’, who has an estimated net worth of £216m ($260m), was not shy about bragging about his wealth as he went big with his Super Bowl bets.

And he was quick to post about his winnings, too, when his only successful punt came home to bank him an overall profit of £425k ($512k), thanks to the Chiefs’ stunning comeback to win 38-35 in a thriller of a game across the pond.

“My psychotic bets for Sunday are in @stake,†he wrote on Instagram ahead of the game.

“Please do not analyse the logic behind these bets, there is none.â€

And then, after watching his bet come in, he added: “Pay that man his MONEYYYYYYY Eddie @Stake.â€

Drake bet £580k ($700k) on the Chiefs to win, and it’s more than likely he spent most of the game sweating over his wager with the team trailing for the majority of the four quarters.

They were 24-14 down at half-time and then 27-21 down heading into the final quarter, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes overcame the pain of an ankle injury to help his team to a second Vince Lombardi Trophy in four years in what will go down in history as a Super Bowl classic.

Mahomes was also named Super Bowl MVP for the second time thanks to a game-winning 21/27 for 182 yards and three touchdowns.

Drake fared better than boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr, who lost out as he backed the wrong horse in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Although, ironically, 'Money' was more reserved than the rap star as he bet £8307 ($10,000).

It's not the first time Drake has bragged about his massive bets, with the Chiefs becoming his lucky team having won £1.67m ($2m) on their AFC Championship win over the Cincinnati Bengals after placing a £831k ($1m) bet.

His betting exploits have not all been successful, though, having lost £831k ($1m) on the World Cup final after backing Argentina to beat France.

Of course, Lionel Messi and his teammates were crowned Qatar 2022 champions, but Drake bet that they would win the game in 90 minutes, not after extra-time and a penalty shoot-out.

Ouch.
