Super Bowl rings are what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Christian McCaffrey are fighting for – they cost thousands to make and sell for seven figures

There's a lot more than just glory riding on the outcome of the Super Bowl.
While winning teams and players will forever be immortalised in the annals of NFL history, there's something much more tangible on offer, too.
Individuals lucky enough to win the showpiece event each get a famous Super Bowl ring - an iconic, diamond encrusted, one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery that usually incorporates the colours, name and logo of the winning team.
The cost of an NFL Super Bowl ring varies from year to year.
The league itself pays a portion of the total fee - usually between $5,000 and $7,000 per ring.
Team owners then incur the rest of the cost which can set them back millions.
For example, in 2015, the New England Patriots gave players a ring with 205 diamonds which reportedly cost $5.475 million - an estimated $36,500 per ring.
That's was a pretty expensive outlay for owner Robert Kraft, but hey, he got a Super Bowl out of it.
Crucially, it's also up to team owners who gets a ring in the first place.
That includes the 53 players, coaches and team executives, but it can also include practice squad players and general staff - as well as cheerleaders - should the owner decide.
With that said, these 'lesser' rings tend to feature less expensive stones or faux diamonds.
Jostens are usually responsible for crafting the bespoke, bejewelled pieces, having designed more than half the Super Bowl rings in history.
However, the likes of Balfour and Tiffany's have also made Super Bowl rings before - although, importantly, they're always made in the weeks and months after the Big Game has ended.
What Super Bowl rings cost and what they're worth are two entirely different things.
Given how prestigious and rare the items are they can often fetch way more than what they cost to make.
In simple terms, the answer to how much they're worth is how much someone is willing to pay.
However, several players and execs have put their rings up for auction down the years, including Kraft, who once sold his Super Bowl LI ring for $1 million for charity.
Additionally, in 2012, Lawrence Taylor’s son sold his father’s Super Bowl XXV ring which 'L.T.' acquired after his New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills, 20-19.
The legendary linebacker’s Super Bowl ring sold for $230,000.
Tom Brady has seven of them so if he's ever strapped for cash it looks like he has something worthwhile sitting in his attic...
