‘Why does Usher wear gloves?’ Super Bowl LVIII fans perplexed by halftime performer’s outfit choice
The Super Bowl is finally here.
The Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the right to call themselves champions.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events on the calendar and arguably the most glamorous given the famous faces that are spotted in the expensive seats.
The iconic halftime show, meanwhile, is almost as popular as the game itself and this year it's the turn of Usher to headline.
The R&B superstar has sold 65 million albums worldwide and won eight Grammy Awards over a 30-year career - but one outfit choice has fans scratching their heads prior to kick-off.
During a pre-game interview, eagle-eyed fans noticed the superstar singer rocking a suave black jacket with his patented gloves.
People took to social media to ask why he always seems to wear them.
"So I’m genuinely curious…" one fan wrote.
"I thought Usher wearing gloves was a style choice. But he’s worn them in interviews and also wearing them in today’s pregame interview. What is up with the gloves?"
"Uhhh what’s with the gloves Usher???", said another.

"Usher loves his new gloves," added a third.

Sure enough he rocked gloves during his performance.
Some thought he was lip-syncing during the show.
He had a white glove on his left hand throughout the halftime show which included Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris - who fans speculated would appear.
Some fans said the glove was an homage to Michael Jackson, who inspired Usher as a youngster.

"Also, I LOVEEEE how Usher is paying subtle homage to Michael Jackson with the jacket and the gloves. #SuperBowl," one fan said.
The 45-year-old is headlining the legendary Super Bowl halftime show for the first time - but it's not the first time he's appeared in the show.
He is headlining at Super Bowl LVIII on the same day he is expected to release his ninth studio album, 'Coming Home.'
Usher recently appeared on Good Morning America where he discussed his hotly-anticipated performance.
Some even thought Taylor Swift could be joining him.
"It’s been a dream of mine and a bucket list, you know, thing to be able to get it," he . "You know, they say what is it, Oscar, Tony, Grammy, Emmy, right?
"You should put [the] Super Bowl there too, right?".
Asked if it would be a solo show or if he intends to invite some friends, the singer coyly replied, "It’s gonna be a great show."
"In Vegas, you know, it’s [the] dealer’s choice.
Speaking after being confirmed as the headliner in September 2023, he : “It’s an honour of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list.
"I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before.

And at halftime the gloves came off, so did the shirt as he wowed the crowd with Alicia Keys, Ludacris and Lil Jon among a star-studded line-up.
