Shannon Sharpe revealed controversial interview made him more money than any season in NFL
Shannon Sharpe's interview with Katt Williams made plenty of headlines when it aired in January 2024.
The Hall of Fame tight end's discussion with the stand-up comedian went viral last year and it seems he's reaped the rewards of that conversation.

Sharpe, now a regular on ESPN's First Take, revealed on his ' with co-host Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson that he made more money from the Williams interview than any season he played in the NFL.
"Everybody was talking about how much money I made doing the Katt Williams interview," Sharpe said.
"I just got the cheque. So whatever you think I made, multiply it by three.
"So if you think I made $500,000, times it by three. "If you think I made a million, 3x it. If you think I made $2 million, 3x it."

He added, "I made more money on Katt Williams alone than I made in any year that I played the NFL."
The 56-year-old didn't disclose exactly how much he made from the interview but alluded to it being at least $6 million.
According to Spotrac, Sharpe made $22.3 million in his career during 15 seasons with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens.
He has a reported net worth of $14 million.

Sharpe reportedly earned an NFL career-high of $5 million in 2000 during his first year with the Ravens, although $4.5 million of that was a signing bonus.
Therefore, Sharpe's claim that he made more from the Williams interview than any season in the NFL seems to check out.
The has since been viewed more than 89 million times on YouTube and Sharpe has already spent some of that ad money.

As he discussed his windfall with 'Ochocinco', the former TE showed off a green-faced 'John Mayer' Rolex he had purchased with the money.
"My pockets is a wonderland," he sang, changing the lyrics to Mayer's 2001 hit, 'Your Body Is a Wonderland'.
"A lot of times, that's what they call it," he explained as to why the watch is named after a celebrity.
"Because he wore it and it caught fire because they saw him have it on. So they dubbed it 'The John Mayer.'"

Sharpe's three-hour conversation with Williams was a hot topic after the comic criticised fellow comedians and discussed politics.
He accused Steve Harvey of stealing his jokes, brought up an involving the Illuminati and Ludacris and implied former US President Joe Biden and current President Donald Trump were 'both bad options' in the lead up to the 2024 US presidential election.
Some suggested Sharpe didn't handle the interview well, which he strongly disagreed with.
"Sometimes the only success they get to taste is taking a bite out of you," Sharpe Johnson on their podcast.
"I told you when I first started this, I said I'm going to try to bring you some of the biggest celebs, entertainers, and athletes I can bring, and I'm going to allow them to have a conversation and maybe tell you something or share something with you that they've never said," he continued.
"That was it. I never said I was a journalist. I never professed to be a journalist.
"I'm an entertainer.".
Sharpe is currently being , alleging sexual assault, harassment, and battery.

Sharpe vehemently denies the allegations, and released a through his attorney on X denying anything nonconsensual happening between him and a woman identified as Jane Doe.
“I’m gonna be open, transparent and defend myself because this isn’t right," Sharpe said in an Instagram video.
