Aaron Rodgers is one huge decision away from walking away from the NFL.

New York Jets teammate Sauce Gardner thinks that Rodgers might have already made his life-changing decision.

With speculation mounting that Rodgers could be named as the United States vice presidential running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Gardner took to social media to draw a connection between the Jets veteran quarterback and a looming battle with current US President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump.

"Ohhhh, Aaron bouta become the VP," Gardner . "That’s why he ain’t been answering my text message."

Rodgers, 40, is coming off a frustrating 2023 season in which he only recorded four snaps after suffering an Achilles injury.

Last week, Rodgers hinted that he hopes to play at least two more years in the NFL and potentially up to four.

"Yeah, I think he can," Jets linebacker Quincy Williams exclusively told talkSPORT. "For real, confidently saying that."

Rodgers is reportedly on a shortlist to join Kennedy in the 2024 White House race, which is already dominating US news coverage.

Kennedy told the New York Times that Rodgers and former Minnesota governor/professional wrestler Jesse Ventura are under consideration.

Rodgers has been with Kennedy and is a public supporter of the controversial politician, who's attempting to become a third voice in a bitterly contested race.

While Rodgers is supposedly committed to the Jets for 2024 and beyond, his against-the-grain personality has seen the four-time NFL MVP become increasingly political in recent years.

Rodgers was the most vocal critic in the NFL of COVID-19 vaccines and took public shots at Kansas City star tight end Travis Kelce for supporting the vaccines.

“There’s a lot of propaganda out there,†Rodgers said in October. “Mr. Pfizer (Kelce) said he didn’t think he’d be in a vax war with me. … This ain’t a war, homey, this is conversation.

"But if you wanna have some sort of duel, debate, have me on the podcast, come on the show. Let’s have a conversation."

If Rodgers joins Kennedy in the push for the White House, the veteran QB could be politically pitted against Kelce's girlfriend and pop superstar, Taylor Swift, who's been at the center of Biden-associated conspiracy theories for months.

Rodgers also has an ongoing feud with Jimmy Kimmel, which saw the late-night TV and Oscars host take multiple shots at the Jets QB.

"If Aaron wanted to make false and very damaging statements like that that, we should do it in court so he could share his proof with a judge,†Kimmel said in January.

While Rodgers' name is now officially linked to a potential US presidential ticket -- which would obviously take away Rodgers' focus from the Jets and NFL -- a current teammate praised the 10-time Pro Bowler for his dedication to New York.

"The biggest thing with Aaron is he's a people person. He's like a coach and a player," Williams said.

"The craziest thing, when he first came in, he didn't know me (personally) at all. The first thing he did, he came to me and had a conversation with me and he was like, 'Bro, you can put it all together.'

"And I was like, 'Yeah, I've just got to do this and I've just got to do that.' And he was, 'Honestly, I didn't say that.' You've just got to keep going."
