Sean McVay walked to the lectern in disbelief after the Los Angeles Rams dramatic 27-24 comeback win over their division rivals and uttered two words.

"Holy s***."

"What a job by our group," McVay said. "Just continuing to battle, continuing to fight.

"There's a lot of guts, there's lot of resilience in this group. It's just one game but I'm really proud of them."

Guts and resilience were indeed on full display Sunday as the winless Rams notched their first win of the season to move to 1-2.

With just over four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Rams had a win probability as low as 3.2%, per Next Gen Stats, trailing 24-17 and the Niners driving with the ball.

It seemed nearly impossible.

Throw in the fact that the Rams had been 0-28 in games in which they had a 14-plus point deficit at any point in the McVay era, it seemed more than just nearly impossible.

Yet McVay's guys didn't blink. They hung in there and delivered.

Delivered without their top two wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, who were both out due to injury.

And now 0-28, is 1-28.

They matched their franchise's biggest second-half comeback in nearly 20 years against a team that has beaten them eight out of the last 10 meetings.

But don't look now. All of a sudden McVay and the Rams have a two-game win streak over Shanahan and the 49'ers.

A team and coach that has had their number for so long, were able to dig deep and turn the tide.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has seen a lot in his 16 years in the league, wasn't surprised by what transpired in the second half of Sunday's game.

“I’m not into improbable, probable,” Stafford said, via the Associated Press. “NFL is an improbable business, I’ll tell you that much.

"You never know what’s gonna happen week in and week out. You've got to go out there and earn it and prove it, and we did that.”

That they did.

The Rams will now travel to the Windy City on Sunday to face the Chicago Bears (1-2), before welcoming a surprising Green Bay Packers(2-1) squad that may have their starting quarterback returning under center.

Jordan Love was injured in the Week 1 defeat to Philadelphia in Brazil, but was on the field going through warm-up drills in Week 3 and a quicker than expected return is on the cards.
