‘Special moment’ – fired up Damar Hamlin comes full circle with career first to help Buffalo Bills stay perfect

Damar Hamlin secured his first career interception as the Buffalo Bills cruised to 3-0.
It is not often that a defensive player steals the show in a 47-10 blowout win.
But Hamlin's pick against the Jacksonville Jaguars sparked emotional celebrations after his battle to return to football.
The safety suffered a cardiac arrest during a Monday night clash against the Cincinnati Bengals 21 months ago.
And the significance of his second-quarter pick off Trevor Lawrence was not lost on the Bills star.
“We all know my last game and how that game went,” Hamlin said.
“So to be able to come all the way back from that, and have a special moment, it’s all God.”
Hamlin, who earned a starting spot this season after a long recovery, was mobbed by his teammates on the sideline.
The 26-year-old's face was full of emotion as he took in the incredible moment on the bench alongside his brothers.
“They were a big part of me being able to make this type of comeback," he said.
"They pushed me. They gave me love. They gave me grace. They gave me everything I needed on the journey.
"And they were even happier than I was to get my first interception.
"But that just shows the community and the bond that we have here in Buffalo.”
Bills head coach Sean McDermott spoke glowingly about Hamlin's determination to get back on the field ahead of the season.
“It’s one thing to come back off of an ACL or a broken bone. It’s another thing to come back off of what he came back off of,” he said.
“Let alone just to decide to play football, contact football in full pads at the NFL level. I don’t think I need to say anything more. It’s incredible.
“I think God’s hands have been on Damar and his family and will continue to be.
"We’re just extremely proud and full of gratitude to watch him go through what he’s went through and where he is now.”
ESPN sideline reporter Laura Rutledge grabbed McDermott's immediate reaction to the pick.
“That’s amazing. God is good and we give Him all the glory,” the coach beamed.
“Damar’s been amazing. What a journey he’s been on.”
