Jaw-dropping details of Bill Belichick’s $10m UNC contract emerge with stunning seven-figure bonuses on offer

Bill Belichick shocked the football world in December by agreeing to become the North Carolina Tar Heels' next head coach
The eight-time Super Bowl winner had not coached in the NFL since leaving the New England Patriots in 2023, and many expected him to fill one of the vacant head coaching positions this offseason.
But Belichick ultimately decided against a return to the National Football League, instead taking the plunge into college football for the first time in his career.
However, the 72-year-old appeared to drag his feet on signing the contract, inviting all sorts of speculation and rumors of a potential reunion with Tom Brady and his head coach-less Las Vegas Raiders.
Those rumors were shutdown this week when Belichick officially signed his contract with UNC to mark a new era in Chapel Hill.
The sides agreed to a five-year deal, though only the first three years are guaranteed. There was also a $10 million buyout for Belichick to leave until June, which then drops to $1 million.
After the deal was done, details were revealed regarding Belichick’s contract, breaking down the unique bonuses he can achieve.
On top of his $10 million salary, we now know that Belichick has some monster bonuses should UNC become a force in college football.

Making the 12-team College Football Playoff would give Belichick a $750,000 jackpot.
Reaching the quarterfinals would pay $1 million, with an additional $250,000 for each game won.
Should the Tar Heels win the national championship, Belichick's CFP bonus would earn him a whopping $1.75 million.
