Randy Moss was left in tears as he watched messages of support from the likes of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick on his return to NFL Countdown.

The ESPN analyst stepped away from his role with the network two months ago after undergoing cancer surgery.

He made his comeback to TV for this year's Super Bowl, sitting inside Caesars Superdome in New Orleans alongside his Countdown co-hosts.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off in the venue this evening, and to mark Moss' return to ESPN, he was welcomed back by a video that featured well wishes from Belichick, Brady, Justin Jefferson and others.

"Welcome back Randy, I'm sure all the guys from the set have missed you, and we've all missed you as well," former teammate Brady said.

"You've been a fixture on that show for a long time, and you were a fixture on the field too.

"As great as you were on the field, showing everyone the strength and resilience of how you performed in your Hall of Fame career, you've impressed and inspired us with what you've done off the field."

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jefferson, meanwhile, described looking up to Moss as a child, adding that he was 'inspired' by his story.

Other NFL stars and legends, including Malik Nabers, Micah Parsons and Jerry Rice, welcomed Moss back to work in the moving video.

The messages of support left Moss in tears, and he thanked everyone for their love as he sat behind the Countdown desk.

"I'm going to be a big cry baby here," he said, wiping tears from his eyes.

“I couldn’t do it alone. It’s been hard, but I got a lot of love and a lot of people believing in me, man, so I’m happy to be here.

"God bless you all."

Moss said it was his goal to be at this year's Super Bowl after announcing last December that he was a cancer survivor, having had a cancerous mass removed from his bile duct, between his liver and pancreas.

He had a six-day stint in a Charlotte-area hospital following a six-hour surgery to treat the cancer.

“Your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss said at the time, before thanking his family, doctors and supporters.

“Some trying times, of course, but we made it through. And, for that, I thank you all.”

NFL fans also sent their best wishes to Moss, and shared their delight at seeing him back on TV, as ESPN shared a clip of his return online.
