Team GB's divers have just broken a new Olympic record at Paris 2024.

And not only did Tom Daley help to win one of them, he also predicted that it would happen before the Games even began.

Harding and Laugher have made it four medals in the synchro events - a new record

For the first time ever at the Olympics, Great Britain's divers have collected a staggering four medals across all events so far.

Yasmin Harper and Scarlet Mew Jensen got the ball rolling when they bagged a bronze in the women's sychronised 3-metre springboard event.

And their success was quickly followed up by a silver, won by Daley and his diving partner Noah Williams in the men's 10-metre synchronised platform final.

Lois Toulson and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix put Team GB on the verge of history when they won bronze in the women's 10-metre synchronised platform event - matching three record three-medal hauls from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

And the record was broken when Jack Laugher and Anthony Harding put on a stellar performance in the men's synchronised 3-metre final.

It is a level of success that is completely unprecedented - although, not everybody has found it completely unexpected.

Speaking to talkSPORT ahead of the Olympics about his hopes for the team, Daley had made a prediction which has turned out to be very shrewd indeed.

"I think we've got some pretty strong performers," he said before Paris 2024 began.

"I think this diving team has the potential to be the most successful diving team that we've ever had.

"I mean, the most medals that we've won in one Olympic Games was in Tokyo and that was with three medals we won.

"And I think that we have the opportunity to win more than that this time round, which is exciting."

Reflecting on the incredible achievement, Laugher told talkSPORT that it was testament to every single member of the team that they had broken the record at the Games.

"We've got a fantastic group," he said. "You know, I think that what we've got is a beautiful blend of the youth and the excitement coming through.

"But we've also got the experience of myself and Tom. Having Tom back in the team is a huge thing for us. It gives us that kind of leader and someone to look towards. Someone who's been to five Olympics is always incredible.

"But what we've achieved here is absolutely unthinkable, really. And what, you know, myself and Anthony have done, but also the women as well.

"The first women's medal in 60 years. And then we got two in, what, four days? It's just an unbelievable achievement. It's thanks to the National Lottery and all the work and hard graft that all of us have put in to get here.

"So, yeah, a wonderful achievement for diving and just a fantastic day."
