David Warner was visibly gutted to have his wicket taken by Stuart Broad yet again in the first Test of the Ashes.

The Australian opener had nine runs when he dragged the ball onto his stumps from Broad's bowling and immediately looked to the sky in frustration.

This is the fifteenth time Broad has taken Warner's wicket, having got him out seven times in ten innings during the 2019 Ashes.

Prior to the series, captain Ben Stokes had justified Broad's selection over paceman Mark Wood by pointing out his knack for performing against Australia.

"Broady's record against Australia is incredible and it's very hard to look past someone like that in the opening game of such a big series," Stokes said.

He was then asked whether his record against Warner specifically played a part in Broad being chosen for the team and Stokes replied: "I'd be lying if I said no."

On day one of the first Ashes test at Edgbaston, England put up a score of 393-8, helped by an unbeaten century from Joe Root.

This was before a bizarre declaration, as England decided to bowl four overs at the Aussies before the close of play, but they did not manage to take any wickets.

This changed quickly in the morning, however, as Broad came storming in and took the wickets of Warner and Marnus Labuschagne in back-to-back balls.
