Former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp looks set to just miss out on having a runner in the Grand National.

Redknapp is a regular at the races and was at the Cheltenham Festival in March to support one of his horses, Shakem Up’Arry.

The 11-year-old is owned by the legendary football boss and picked up his first-ever win at Cheltenham in 2024’s TrustATrader Plate.

Unfortunately, the horse didn’t have the same success this year as Redknapp watched on, finishing 14th when defending the crown.

And now, Shakem Up’Arry looks to have missed out on running in the 2025 Grand National

Shakem Up’Arry has just missed out on the race, being named as one of four reserves for the Grand National.

Roi Mage, Favori De Champdou and Fantastic Lady are the others.

Reserves can be called up into the race should a runner pull out before the deadline at 1pm on Friday.

So there is still a small chance that Redknapp gets his first runner in the race since 2023, but it seems very unlikely.

Shakem Up’Arry was entered into the Grand National by trainer Ben Pauling but was forced to wait for the 34th and final spot.

Redknapp’s horse weighs the same as fellow entry Duffle Coat who has now claimed that last place in the race.

10st 4lb is the lowest weight set to be featured in the race, with reigning champion I Am Maximus carrying top weight 11st 12lb.

The horses that were tied at the same weight could only take one spot, and that horse was decided by their handicap mark.

Shakem Up’Arry missed out as Duffle Coat had the highest rating ahead of the final declaration on Thursday, April 3.

The full 34-horse lineup is now officially confirmed, so Redknapp and Pauling are looking set to miss out.

Redknapp was waiting for his second entry into the Grand National after his first, Back On The Lash, was pulled up in 2023’s edition.

Shakem Up’Arry was also meant to run in that race, but it missed out and ran in the Topham Chase instead, finishing 17th.
