Farah breaks English record but misses out on London Marathon victory

Mo Farah's London Marathon debut proved tricky as he finished a respectable eight but missed the British record he had targeted.
A double Olympic champion in 5,000m and 10,000m, Farah, had already stated this was the toughest test of his career, and so it proved as the 31-year-old finished in 2:08:21, more than four minutes behind winner Wilson Kipsang.
The Kenyan world record took the title in an unofficial time of two hours four minutes and 29 seconds, a course record.
Farah's time did break the English record but finished outside Steve Jones' 29-year-old British record of 2:07:13.
