T20 Blast round-up: Alex Lees hits 59 as Yorkshire beat Northamptonshire

Yorkshire guaranteed their place in the T20 Blast quarter-finals after a 14-run win at Northamptonshire, who did enough to earn a home tie in the knockout stages.

Alex Lees (59) and Jack Leaning (64) both registered half-centuries and shared a stand of exactly 100 in just 8.3 overs as Yorkshire accelerated well to post 177 for five.

Northants were always behind in the chase but Alex Wakely's format-best 64 from 42 balls steered his side past the 159 they needed to ensure their last eight tie will be back at Wantage Road.

Elsewhere, rain forced the abandonment of Glamorgan's game at Essex, with the result meaning the hosts the fourth and final place in the South Group and qualify for a quarter-final tie. Glamorgan, who had already booked their spot, can look forward to a home game after finishing second behind Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire beat Middlesex by four wickets to ensure they finished top of the South Group, Durham clinched the final qualifying spot in the North Group by beating Derbyshire by 13 runs, and Nottinghamshire edge Leicestershire by 8 wickets via the D/L method.

Furthermore, Tom Alsop crashed his highest Blast score to help Hampshire thrash Somerset by 83 runs to condemn them to the South Group wooden spoon.

There were also wins for Lancashire over Birmingham and Surrey over Kent.
