No England recall for Kevin Pietersen despite career-best knock for Surrey

Andrew Strauss is expected to confirm on Tuesday that Kevin Pietersen’s international sacking remains intact, despite the Surrey batsman smashing a career-best 326 on Monday.

A meeting between the ECB’s new Director of Cricket and the much maligned star was scheduled for Monday evening following Pietersen’s exploits for his county against Leicestershire, with Pietersen hoping his form would earn a recall.

Pietersen declared after his record-breaking innings, which included 300 runs on one day at the Oval, that he deserved to be reconsidered for selection and reiterated his sole desire to play for England.

However, it appears Strauss has withstood calls for Pietersen’s return, meaning the batsman’s 15 month exile from the national team is set to continue.
