Pakistan v England: Jos Buttler smashes his country’s fastest-ever ODI ton

Jos Buttler hit a century from only 46 balls, as England won a run-fest to beat Pakistan by 84 runs and take the series 3-1.
Jason Roy hit 102, his maiden in ODIs, as the visitors ran riot in Dubai to finish 355/5.
Pakistan gave them a fright, as they got off to a lightning start, however they lost regular wickets and eventually ran out of steam to be bowled out for 271.
England’s fireworks did not start immediately, with Roy and Alex Hales putting on 54 for the first wicket in steady style.
The run rate started to accelerate when Joe Root came to the crease, as he and Roy put on 140 for the second wicket.
Roy went after posting his first three-figure score for England and, when Root went shortly after, it could have led to a period of consolidation.
However Buttler, promoted up the order, was having none of that as he set about the Pakistani bowlers with gusto.
As an exhibition of clean hitting, it is difficult to think of many better as he peppered the stands with sixes.
He hit eight in total, as he notched the equal seventh-fastest century of all time.
England’s final score was also the highest ever at the ground and their highest away from home.
To surpass the score and square the series, Pakistan needed to match England’s centurion count. But, despite some bright and breezy cameos, they couldn’t find anyone to stick around long enough.
At the halfway point they were 50% there in terms of runs, but scoreboard pressure ended up telling its tale.
After the disappointment of the Test series and after going 1-0 down in the limited overs series, England have responded incredibly well.
They will go to the T20 section of the tour in good spirits.
