Goodwood is a right handed track, quite sharp on the turn in on longer trips and a downhill sprint on the straight for those 5f-6f dashes.

It's a tricky course to win on with its quirks but when a horse thrives here it makes a massive difference.

Goodwood Festival tips and feature races

Lennox Stakes: Haatem & Noble Dynasty

The Lennox Stakes is a great Group 2 contest over 7f for horse three-years-old and over.

Kinross is a horse that really goes well here and in particularly in this race.

Winning both the 2021 and 2023 renewals while coming second in 2022.

The now seven-year-old has a great chance at a fairly big price this year but will have to face the likes of Haatem, who receives 7lb in weight for his three-year-old allowance.

The Lennox stands out for giving this chance to three-year-olds but also opens it up for top-class milers and those who thrive over 7f.

Rosallion won over 7f twice as a two-year-old and could be included here after winning the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, both over a mile but looks destined to go for 1m Sussex Stakes instead.

Noble Dynasty won well ahead of English Oak while carrying over a stone more at Newmarket in May and now carries the same weight as he reappears as a potential rival here.

The Charlie Appleby-trained horse went on to win the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket and is easily one to keep onside as an each-way bet.

Goodwood Cup - Kyprios

The Goodwood Cup is always one of the most entertaining races of the entire meeting.

The 2m Group 1 British Champions Series contest brings out the best stayers, with the likes of Stradivarius, Trueshan, Kyprios, Big Orange all winning in recent years.

These stars have all done well to win, with Kyprios the latest to really arrive on the scene as a top group stayer, beating Stradivarius in 2022.

He's odds-on already in the antepost and it's no surprise with his form here and 11 wins from 15 races.

The six-year-old has only got better and is now unbeaten this season with three straight victories at Navan, Leopardstown and Royal Ascot.

Sussex Stakes - Rosallion

Rosallion is around 5/4 for the Sussex Stakes having proven his ability in Group 1's three times this season, winning the latest two at Royal Ascot and Curragh.

He's up to a 122 rating now and looks like a great miler that is going to be tough to beat going forward.

The Blue Point colt is likely to go well at this kind of track as he handles all sorts of courses, winning at Newbury, Longchamp, Ascot and the Curragh.

The Sussex Stakes really brings out the current top Group 1 horses out, with Paddington, Baaeed, Too Darn Hot, Kingman, Frankel and Rock Of Gibraltar all on the winners list.

Nassau Stakes - Tamfana

The Nassau is a 1m2f race that features on the third day of the festival and the highlight on the day as it's another Group 1 part of the British Champions Series.

This is one of a few in this festival to be just for fillies and mares and of course it gives an allowance to the up and coming three-year-olds with an 8lb allowance.

Opera Singer is the favourite as a result for trainer Aidan O'Brien but it's the likes of Inspiral who has consistently been up there in tough Group 1 contests.

The five-year-old was well beaten in her two races this year though, nearly seven lengths off of Auguste Rodin at Royal Ascot in the 1m2f Prince Of Wales's Stakes and 13 lengths behind Audience, so it's tough to back her again with her not living up to her expectations.

Elmalka won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May by a neck to Porta Fortuna.

She reversed that form comfortably next time out with Porta Fortuna winning by nearly four lengths, with Opera Singer and Ramatuelle in 2nd and 3rd.

Elmalka could be one to improve on a step up in trip and utilise her three-year-old allowance at a big price in the antepost market.

The Nassau Stakes has been won by Al Husn, Nashwa and also a plethora of Juddmonte-owned fillies and mares.

Midday won it three times in a row between 2009 and 2011. Timepiece also owned by Juddmonte came second in 2012, before the 2013 renewal saw Winsili win ahead of Hot Snap in 3rd.

They've not featured in the top three since, but Bluestocking represents just an 11/4 price for the owners to see another winner.

However, Tamfana looks the pick of them all after shaping well in the 2000 Guineas, an unlucky loser all things considered,

She then went to Chantilly to feature in the coveted Prix de Diane Group 1 fillies contest stepping up in trip to 1m2f.

She then featured in the Grand Prix de Paris over 1m4f and could be an ideal candidate at an each-way price dropping back down to 1m2f again - and has always looked as though she's due a win.

King George Stakes - Bucanero Fuerte

The King George is a 5f sprint as a Group 2 contest on the penultimate day of Glorious Goodwood.

There's a big field still in line to feature in this race with stars like Bucanero Fuerte, Big Evs, Live In The Dream and many more in the running.

Beautiful Diamond has been right up there this season and even won in a dead heat with Azure Blue in listed company at Ayr in June.

But the grey filly is a massive price, as is Live In The Dream, who hasn't won since claiming the Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August of last year.

Bucanero Fuerte has won four of his six races including on his first run of the season winning by a head to Givemethebeatboys.

However, this colt hasn't been seen running over 5f since his debut in March 2023.

His step up to 7f clearly wasn't suitable and there's a reason to believe he has the speed to surprise a few here.

He beat Porta Fortuna by four lengths and even came third to River Tiber on his second run of his career at Royal Ascot in the Coventry.
