Super League news: Gavin Bennion leaves Rochdale to sign for Salford Red Devils

Salford have signed former Warrington forward Gavin Bennion from Championship side Rochdale.

The 23-year-old Bennion becomes the first addition to Ian Watson's Red Devils squad since owner Marwan Koukash announced his departure.

He switches to the AJ Bell Stadium amid speculation that star forward Ben Murdoch-Masila is set to move to Warrington.

Salford chief executive Ian Blease said: "Gavin is the first of a few signings we're hoping to announce in the coming weeks and months.

"We feel he'll be a great addition to the squad and, under coach Ian Watson's guidance, I'm expecting Gavin to challenge for a first-team position at the start of the new season."
