Man United or Liverpool heroes above Wilkinson as the greatest English sportsperson ever?

Jonny Wilkinson brought the curtain down on his trophy-laden career after his Toulon side beat Castres to the Top 14 title.

That came a week after he helped the French side to successive Heineken Cup triumphs, 11 years after he memorably clinched the 2003 Rugby World Cup for England in Australia.

There can be no doubt Wilkinson has achieved a remarkable career, but is he the greatest English sportsperson?
