Exclusive - Eddie Jones tells Danny Cipriani his England future is in his own hands

Eddie Jones has told Danny Cipriani his international future is in his own hands.

The Sale star was a notable omission from Jones’ first England squad, with the new head coach opting for just two specialist fly-halves - George Ford and Owen Farrell - in his 33-man party for the upcoming Six Nations.

Cipriani has been in impressive from in the Aviva Premiership this season, but Jones says the 28-year-old still has much to prove to him if he wants to add to his 14 caps.

"It is up to Danny,” said Jones, in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT. "The players select themselves, I don’t select the players.

“It is all about the quality of their performance. He is a very talented player but it is converting that talent to performance.

“He has played some good games for Sale. I have had a chat with him about what he needs to do going forward and if he does that then we will look at him very closely again. Not because of his name, but because of his performances."
