Aviva Premiership final-day results: Exeter hammer Harlequins to book a home play-off game

Everyone kicked off at the same time and here are the results...

Harlequins 24-62 Exeter
Ten tries from Exeter including a Jack Nowell hat-trick secured a home semi-final in the Premiership play-offs.

They will play Wasps in the last four, while Quins are denied a place in the top six. They fell apart in director of rugby Conor O’Shea’s farewell game, however, they have the chance to make the Champions Cup if they beat Montpellier in the Challenge Cup final on 13 May.

Gloucester 20-28 Northampton
Northampton Saints sealed a place in next season's European Champions Cup after coming from behind to beat Gloucester at Kingsholm.

And there was good news for England head coach Eddie Jones as his national captain Dylan Hartley returned to action for the first time since being knocked out in the Six Nations Grand Slam decider over France last March.

A try either side of half-time by wing George North added to a sizzling touchdown from centre George Pisi and three penalties and two conversions from fly-half Stephen Myler secured the win.

Worcester 43-19 Saracens
Ahead of Saracens’ Champions Cup final against Racing, Chris Ashton scored a hat-trick at Sixways. The hosts led 14-7 after 25 minutes, but fell away and have now conceded 178 points in four successive defeats.

Neil de Kock, Samu Vuinsa and Ben Ransom scored the other tries, with a Cooper Vuna double and Andy Symons touching down for Worcester.

Bath 38-27 Leicester
It is Bath’s worst league campaign for 10 years, but they managed to salvage some respect, though the result changed nothing in terms of league positions.

Semesa Rokoduguni crossed twice for Bath - his tenth try in eight games - with Ollie Devoto, Francois Louw and Jeff Williams getting the others.

Leicester, meanwhile have one eye on their play-off semi-final at Saracens in two weeks.

Newcastle 15-21 Sale
Danny Cipriani's final game for Sale ended in victory against Newcastle, which was good enough for a top six finish in the Aviva Premiership.

Cipriani had a hand in Sale's first try but the Sharks scored just two tries to Newcastle's three - a hat-trick by skipper Nili Latu - but without a reliable goal-kicker the Falcons were at a disadvantage, while Joe Ford kicked two vital second half penalties for Sale.

Wasps 38-12 London Irish
Wasps cruised to a comfortable 38-12 win over relegation-bound London Irish.

At the Ricoh Arena, they scored six tries thanks to Thomas Young, Charles Piutau, Christian Wade, Dan Robson, Josh Bassett and Johnson.

However, the Exeter Chiefs' thumping win at Harlequins means Wasps must win at Sandy Park in their Aviva Premiership Rugby play-off semi-final if they are to make it to Twickenham on 28 May.
