Nick Kyrgios has been told to 'sort it out' after 'crossing the line' as the tennis ace admitted to spitting towards a fan at Wimbledon during his first-round win on Tuesday.

The Australian was aggrieved by the behaviour of the crowd throughout his victory over Brit Paul Jubb, labelling them 'rowdy' in his on-court interview.

And, after hitting his winning shot in the five-set win, Kyrgios turned towards a section of supporters, before spitting in their direction.

It didn't appear to hit anyone, but the 27-year-old has revealed that it was intentional.

In an explosive post-match press conference, when asked if he spat at the end of the match, Kyrgios said: "Of one of the people disrespecting me? Yes."

When asked again if it was deliberate, Kyrgios confirmed: "Yes. I would not be doing that to someone who was supporting me."

He added: "I've been dealing with hate and negativity for a long time, so I don't feel like I owed that person anything.

"He literally came to the match to not even support anyone really, just to stir up disrespect. That's fine, but if I give it back to you, that's just how it is."

There were heckles and boos towards world No.45 after some poor shots which led to Kyrgios demanding the spectator to be kicked out.

He was then involved in a lengthy discussion with the umpire, which included comments about racial slurs.

However, he confirmed that he wasn't racially abused but was just referring to the other insults that were hurled at him.

Kyrgios said: "[I wasn't racially abused] today, no, no. But a lot of disrespect was being thrown today from the crowds.

"I'm just starting to think that it's normal when it's really not. You know, I didn't say anything to the crowd until they started just every time I came down to the far end, people just going.

"It's just I don't know if it's normal or not."

The Australian added: "I love this tournament. It has nothing to do with Wimbledon; I just think it's just a whole generation of people, on social media, feeling like they have a right to comment on every single thing with negativity. It just carries on into real life.

"There's a fence there, and I physically can't do anything or say anything because I will get in trouble, so they just feel that they can just say anything they want."

Kyrgios' antics began just 12 minutes into the match, when he openly branded a line judge a 'snitch' after they reported something he said to the umpire.

Football manager Ian Holloway reacted to the scenes on talkSPORT, and was one of many to claim enough is enough from the bad-tempered Aussie ace.

“He’s definitely crossed the line too many times," he told talkSPORT Breakfast.

"I’d be having a word with him and saying, ‘You’ve got to sort that out’.

“It’s unacceptable, spitting towards people. Aren’t they allowed to say what they feel?

“Listen, I’ve had it everywhere I go, but still, you have to think about the good things and take the positives.

“People will remember you for what you’re like. What does he want to be remembered for? Being not a very nice human being, who when he doesn't get what he wants, he behaves like that?

“Does he want people to think he’s a horrible person? Because, honestly, that’s what he looks like he is.”
