While 28-year-old and Boulter are good friends due to their time together in the British tennis team, Broady has joked that he 'won't hold it against' the female star given that she's currently dating his next opponent, de Minaur.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast about the challenge of supporting fellow stars during Wimbledon, he said: "It’s difficult because with the men playing best of five sets it’s hard to get out and then go to see the other guys as well.

“You could be on court for four hours and then go and watch someone else for four hours as well and sometimes I think it’s probably better to stay away than show up for a couple of games and then go again and distract the player.

“Once guys start to go out of tournament I think you’ll see some guys start to appear in different people’s boxes here and there.

“Obviously I’m playing Alex de Minaur in a day and you might see Katie Boulter in his box. I won’t hold it against her!”

Asked about the level of support that British players get from their fellow stars, such as Andy Murray, Broady said: "We had an event during covid called ‘battle of the Brits’, an individual event and a team event and I think it brought all of the of British tennis players, men and women, closer together.

“Andy kind of led the way with that. He was pretty inspirational throughout.

"So was Dan Evans and Jamie Murray was incredible with putting those events together for the players and if you look at the list of players who played in that event, one of whom was [Emma] Raducanu, there’s a few of us who have gone on to do pretty well.”
