‘Let’s go nuts’ – Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic made dinner date for post Wimbledon final as pair put differences aside to officially enter a ‘bromance’

Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios put aside their differences before and after the Wimbledon final and now a surprising bromance is blossoming.
The pair meet in Sunday’s Wimbledon final with Djokovic winning his 21st Grand Slam title.
The finalists have had plenty to say about each other over the years, with the Serbian’s views on COVID-19 particularly an issue for the Australian.
He labelled him a ‘tool’ for holding an event in the height of the pandemic, with no social distancing or masks.
But Kyrgios stood up for Djokovic amid his Australian Open saga and their relationship has softened in the recent days and weeks.
Their newfound friendship was apparent on Instagram and they even agreed to a dinner date, with the winner of the Wimbledon final paying.
Djokovic: “It took you five years to say something nice about me.”
Kyrgios: “But I defended you when it mattered.”
Djokovic: “You did, I appreciate that.”
Kyrgios: “We friends now?”
Djokovic: “If you are inviting me for a drink or dinner, I accept. PS winner of tomorrow pays.”
Kyrgios: “Deal, let’s go to a nightclub and go nuts.”
Djokovic's 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3) ensured it was on him, though his £2million prize money should be enough to cover whatever it is they end up doing - "It's why I lost," Kyrgios joked.
The night out won't be for a while, however, given it was the champion's wedding anniversary and Kyrgios is looking forward to a holiday.
It was his first appearance in a grand slam and Djokovic is certain there will be more.
"I know it is tough to find consolation words after a tough loss like this, but you showed why you deserve to be one of the best players in the world, particularly on this surface," he said.
"Congrats to you and your team, and I wish you all the best. I really respect you a lot. I think you are a phenomenal tennis player and athlete, an amazing talent.
"You have been hearing that for many years, but now, everything has started to come together for you so I am sure we are going to see much of you in the later stages of a Grand Slam.
"I never thought I was going to say so many nice things about you considering the relationship. Okay, it’s officially a bromance. Hopefully, this is the start of a wonderful relationship between the two of us, off the court as well."
Kyrgios has previously spoken graciously about both Djokovic throughout the last few days and called their newfound ‘bromance’ weird.
"I think everyone knows there was no love lost for a while there.
"I think it was healthy for the sport. I think every time we played each other, there was hype around it. It was interesting for the media, the people watching, all that.
"I felt like I was almost the only player and someone to stand up for him with all that drama at the Australian Open.
"I feel like that's where respect is kind of earned. Not on the tennis court, but I feel like when a real-life crisis is happening and someone stands up for you.
"We actually message each other on DMs in Instagram now and stuff. It's real weird. Actually, earlier in the week, he was like 'hopefully I'll see you Sunday'."
