Williams, 40, also revealed that the US Open would be her last event while also being 'terrible at goodbyes'.
The former World Number One, turned pro in 1995 and went on to win countless tournaments, including 23 Grand Slams, 14 doubles and two mixed doubles titles.
The Olympic Gold medallist is 50/1 to win the US Open this year which would bring her Grand Slam tally tied with Margaret Court.
Upon announcing her retirement she wrote: “And I don’t know if I will be ready to win New York. But I’m going to try. And the lead-up tournaments will be fun.
“I know there’s a fan fantasy that I might have tied Margaret (Court on 24 slam singles titles) that day in London, then maybe beat her record in New York, and then at the trophy ceremony say, ‘See ya!’
“I get that. It’s a good fantasy. But I’m not looking for some ceremonial, final on-court moment. I’m terrible at goodbyes, the world’s worst.”
As she exits the world of tennis this year, Emma Raducanu is still progressing into her role as the British number one and is out to 25/1 odds to win in New York.
Last year, she also stunned the world of tennis by becoming the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years.
They have some tough opposition again this year with Iga Swiatek, the current number one at 4/1 to win.
Women's US Open 2022 Odds
Betfair odds
- Iga Swiatek 3/1
- Cori 'Coco' Gauff, Caroline Garcia: 9/1
- Ludmila Samsonova 10/1
- Arnya Sabalenka 11/1
- Serena Williams 14/1 (was 40/1)
- Ons Jabeur, Bianca Andreescu, Jessica Pegula 14/1
As far as betting on this competition goes there's plenty of value from top to bottom.
Jabeur is the world No. 2 from Women's Tennis Association and has been playing as such, only losing to Rybakina in the final of Wimbledon in June.
Yet the Tunisian player is a huge 25/1 price and takes some consideration at each-way.
Swiatek has been incredibly consistent in 2022 though and could get back to winning ways on the hard court.
