Emma Raducanu's win at the 2021 US Open has been good for her bank account.

The English sensation became an overnight star with victory a year ago, where she became the first qualifier in the open era to win a grand slam, having entered the competition ranked just at 150 in the world.

The win at Flushing Meadows, where she is back to defend her crown, earned £2.6m for the 19-year-old, before earning £15.2m in off-court earnings, according to magazine Forbes.

This came as a result of lucrative deals with the likes of British Airways, Dior, Evian, Nike and Tiffany.

This took Raducanu's total earnings to £17.9m over the last 12 months, a figure that puts her at number six in the list of top-earning tennis stars.

However, she has not won a title in that time thanks in no small part to injuries. Her status as British no.1 is also in danger of being lost to Harriet Dart.

Raducanu plays her first round match on Tuesday.

In the lead up to her 2022 US Open campaign, though, there have been career-boosting wins over tennis legend Serena Williams, who is bowing out of the game after the grand slam tournament.

Elsewhere on the rich list, Roger Federer was the top earning tennis player, with £76.6million despite the fact that he hasn't played a match in 14 months.

Naomi Osaka was ranked second with earnings of £47.8million, while WIlliams came third with £29.9million.

Rafael Nadal was number four in the list after earning £26.7million.

Meanwhile Novak Djokovic did alright after a mixed year with earnings of £23.1million, although he will now miss this year's US Open due to his COVID vaccination status.
