The 61-year wait for a British winner is over, with the last person having to achieve that feat being Stanley Matthews Jr - son of England football legend Stanley Matthews.

Searle now joins an iconic list of names to have won the Wimbledon boys' singles title like Bjorn Borg, Stefan Edberg and Roger Federer.

It is a prestigious title that Andy Murray never won, despite going on to win the senior title.

Meanwhile, in more recent years, Liam Broady and Jack Draper have made the final but lost.

Searle beat Yaroslav Demin 6-4, 6-4 in the final on Court One on Sunday in front of a loud crowd cheering him on.

The teenager did not drop a set on his brilliant run to the title.

He managed to take out four seeded players, including the number one seed in the first round, as he completed a memorable victory.

Searle is certainly going to be a name to watch out for in the future.

The 6ft 4in youngster has similarities to Draper's game and Searle himself has tried to implement a few of his traits.

“I remember watching bits of Jack’s (Draper) final in 2018 – I like to think he plays pretty similar to myself so I take a few things from him that I’ve tried to implement into my game as well.”
