US Open ‘beer girl’ who went viral for chugging footage hints at taking talents to new sport after Flushing Meadows snub

The tennis fan who gained widespread popularity after necking beers at the US Open in 2021 and 2022, is taking her talents to another sport.
Megan Lucky, affectionately dubbed as ‘beer girl,’ hit the big screen at Flushing Meadows in 2021 as fans watched her down a pint of beer.
A year later and the cameras spotted her with another drink in her hand, which she again proceeded to glug away in speedy fashion to the delight of those around her.
And last week she revealed that she was to return to Flushing Meadows, looking to make it a hat-trick of impressive downs.
But in a shared to her 115,000 Instagram followers, Lucky revealed she was robbed of her moment on the big screen over the weekend.
Though she told her adoring fans she will be taking her chugging skills to another sport to continue the trend.
“I just want to address the elephant in the room real quick,” she said.
"And for whatever reason, whoever was in charge didn't want me on the jumbotron [big screen] this year.
“I don't know their reasons, they didn't share them with me, but I still had a lot of fun [at the US Open] and I'm at peace with it.
“I know the universe has a plan for me and like I said last time, 'beer girl' is a part of me.
“Maybe I'll take her to another sport that wants her fun-loving energy soon, so look out for that.
“But as for now, this is not the end, it is only the beginning of a new era.”
Lucky’s US Open antics went viral and quickly became an online phenomenon with some tennis commentators even making reference to her.
Her rise to fame came during the third-round match between Roberto Bautista-Agut and Felix Auger-Aliassime in 2021.
Video of her efforts a year later garnered over 350,000 hits and to celebrate its success, Lucky posted: “I’ve missed you guys.”
She later uploaded images to her followers of the 2022 beer swig alongside the caption: “Some b**** named Serena stole my thunder.”
Although her US Open stint appears to be over, Lucky was able to make best use of her spotlight after partnering with a host of alcohol brands but now, she is looking to develop her own personal brand.
She added: “I still haven't been able to truly monetise, so now I'm starting to post more on my socials.”
