Jannik Sinner will be the favourite in Sunday's final after knocking out the previous favourite, 10-time Australian Open winner, and current world number one Novak Djokovic in a four-set victory in the opening semi final.

The 22-year-old Italian will be taking part in his first career Grand Slam final, having only previously made it past the quarter final stage on only one occasion.

The world number four heads into the final as the odds on favourite at 4/11, despite coming up against the current world number three in the form of Daniil Medvedev, who came back from two sets down to stun Alexander Zverev in his semi final.

The Russian won the US Open in 2021 and will be taking part in his third Australian Open final, having lost to Djokovic earlier that year before falling at the final hurdle against the following year to Rafael Nadal.

The 27-year-old will be hoping it's third-time lucky for him in Melbourne as he chases a second Grand Slam title.

Sinner heads into Sunday's final having only dropped one set all tournament, while Medvedev has dropped eight, with three of his matches going the full five sets, including both his quarter- and semi final ties.

In the women's draw, world number two and defending Australian Open champions Aryna Sabalenka heads into her third Grand Slam singles final as strong odds on favourite to defend her crown and win a second career Slam title.

The 25-year-old Belarusian needed only two sets to defeat Coco Gauff, who beat Sabalenka in last year's US Open final, with her 7-6, 6-4 win meaning she reaches the final without having dropped a set all tournament.

Standing in her ways is the world number 13 Zheng Qinwen, whose run to the quarter finals of last year's US Open was her previous best performance in a Slam.

The 21-year-old from China also won her first semi final in straight sets, beating Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska 6-4, 6-4 to book her place in her first ever Slam final.

Australian Open winners odds (talkSPORT BET):

  • Jannik Sinner - 4/11
  • Daniil Medvedev - 11/5
  • Aryna Sabalenka - 1/6
  • Zheng Qinwen - 4/1
