Wimbledon preview

Some may be surprised to see seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic as the 4/1 shot and not even close to being the out and out favourite.

But it's largely due to suffering a knee injury at the French Open that led to his scheduled quarter-final clash with seventh seed Casper Ruud being ruled a walkover.

There's speculation and some doubt whether he will be at his 100% level best, as it's a shock in of itself that he can actually return to play so quickly.

Bet365 -

His surgery on his knee has meant that he could feature as he's potentially made a remarkable recovery.

It could be the first time in 22 years that Wimbledon is played without the 'Big Four' as Andy Murray has been completely ruled out of the summer tournament with an injury.

Rafael Nadal is instead setting his sights on a Gold medal at Paris 2024 for the Olympics which gets underway just a couple of weeks after the end of Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, for the Women's singles tournament, it's wide open.

Swiatek is always at the fore in the betting but there's been a different winner every single year since 2017, so it's always hard to predict.

Vondrousova beat Jabeur last year while Rybakina also beat the Tuinisian the year before.

It's probably wise to go for another winner this year with big value available each-way.

Wimbledon tips

  • Jack Draper each-way - 20/1

Djokovic's 4/1 price also reflects the ability of Alcaraz, who beat the Serbian by winning the fifth and final set 6-4.

The pair were seeded first and second with the rankings resulting in the finishing positions with the Spaniard taking number one spot.

However, Sinner enters this tournament as the number 1 ranked player according to ATP, comfortably clear of Djokovic in second and Alcaraz in third.

Bet365 -

Last year Alcaraz was close up in the odds to the favourite Djokovic throughout but it might be the year to go for an each-way bet with the top four potentially out of contention.

This offers a lot of value, with the likes of Alcaraz going out to Draper at the Queen's Club last week in the Round of 16.

Sinner won the Italian Halle Open on Sunday, but had to do it 710-68, 77-62 in a longer than expected battle.

The 22-year-old British star has come into contention as the 20/1 shot despite being 29th in the ATP Rankings.

But he's value for the bet given his win over Alcaraz just recently, despite the fact the Spaniard came into that on the back of a French Open victory.

  • Jessica Pegula each-way - 20/1

Pegula is ranked fifth in the WTA rankings, behind Swiatek, Gauff, Sabalenka and Rybakina.

Only Rybakina has won Wimbledon out of those four and Swiatek has often been the number 1 seed going into the London summer tournament.

Yet the Polish star doesn't have a great record on the grass at this tournament.

Bet365 -

She was beaten in the quarter finals last year by the unseeded Elina Svitolina and that's the furthest she's got so far.

The 23-year-old crashed out in the Third Round in 2022, but did manage to reach Round of 16 in 2021 at only 20 years old.

Pegula will play the Round of 16 tie at the Eastbourne International where she will face British tennis star Emma Raducanu.

That will go a long way in helping to see where she's at in terms of being ready for Wimbledon too, potentially even seeing her price drop.

The US tennis player is in great form though as she won the Grass Court Championships in Berlin on Sunday, reached the Miami Open quarter-finals, and seems to be doing much better on the grass and as the season progresses.
